Personality:Ochiba is an intelligent person. He is very good with mind games, and enjoys messing with and manipulating simple-minded people. He isn't very confident, though he also knows his own limits and exactly how weak he is. Ochiba doesn't like to be serious, but is very wise deep down. He enjoys playing around and joking with people, choosing not to show his overall maturity and wisdom. Deep down he has a great sense of moral judgment, a vast amount of wisdom, and a sagely air about him. This side of him only shows when it has to, and if it does everyone had better be serious as possible. Ochiba has a great amount of self-control, and a large amount of patience. He can deal with and befriend almost anyone, but he can also make mortal enemies just as fast.

Likes and Dislikes: Ochiba likes fighting, onigiri, sake, men, climbing trees, sleeping, and eating. He dislikes women, nuisances, people who disappoint him, surprises, sushi, fighting amongst friends, and pointless fights.

Appearance:
Ochiba is young-looking, and handsome. He wears his hair short and black, his eyes a deep crimson. His face is always decorated with a smile, showing off his brilliantly white teeth. With thin eyebrows and cat-like features, some would describe him as more beautiful than handsome. He has a lean build, not very big in height or girth. In gigai form Ochiba wears a pair of old, cut up, jeans. He is always wearing some oldies band t-shirt, and a leather jacket or button up shirt that is unbuttoned to reveal the t-shirt underneath. When he wears a jacket it is jet-black and basically a trench coat. He wears black combat boots, and in gigai form always carries a butterfly knife in his shoe. His gigai form hides the tattoos on his face and chest. While in shinigami form Ochiba wears the traditional shingami robes. On his right cheek and chest are tattoos from his past, ones that he wears with pride. He is often found with a cigarette in his mouth, though it is hardly ever lit.

History:
Human Life:
Ochiba was born to a poor family, and saw many things at young ages he shouldn't have. Living in the poor neighborhood, he was surrounded by violence and drug abuse. Ochiba saw death every time he leaved the house, and had to face it very often later in life. His parents were good parents, who tried to raise him right, but they were terrible people. They were judgmental, mean spirited, and general asses. Ochiba would constantly tell himself that he wouldn't end up like them; he would be much better. With that hope in mind he entered the world. Diagnosed with depression, Ochiba was placed in therapy and given pills. He refused to take the pills, calling them "unnatural". Ochiba began to hang out with a crowd of people who got in violence often. He was the first to jump in and help a friend, and the last to fall or run from a fight. Ochiba would live in the neighborhood his whole life, taking over the gang and getting a job as a professional fighter. He died at 21 in a gang fight, stabbed by a kid who had got behind him and stabbed him when no one was looking.

Becoming a Shinigami:
Ochiba would wake up in the rukongai, a child. He grew up with a gang similar to the one he had spent his life with. However, this gang was bent on becoming shinigami not delinquents. They marked themselves with tattoos, saying that once they got into the SS they would be able to find each other again from those tattoos. The day after they got the tattoos they split up to find their own way. They believed that the only way to get strong enough to join in was to travel and train on their own. Ochiba took to the mountains and trained himself there alone. He became quite skilled, testing himself against traveling warriors as they came upon the pass. He was weak in kidou, but amazing with a sword. So, before taking the exam, Ochiba took another ten years to train his kidou. He would pass the exam and enter the academy. Ochiba got through the first five difficult years of the academy, moving on into his sixth. He passed the sixth one with just as much difficulty as the others, and was sent into the Sereitei where he would be joining the sixth division.

Entering the Sixth:
Ochiba fit in with the 6th division easily. He made plenty of friends, and became well known for always getting the job done. His best friend was also an old time friend who had made it into the sixth division. Ochiba recognized him right away from his tattoos. Kai was his name, and Ochiba was overjoyed to find that one of the others had made it in. When he questioned about the others, Kai only shook his head sadly. However, Ochiba didn't let this get him down. He went back to work wistfully, hoping to be done before sunset so that Kai and him could go and have a drink. When the job was done they did just that. Over sake Kai talked of power, and Ochiba was completely drawn in to the idea. They made a promise to back each other as they climbed the ranks and learned everything they needed to become powerful. So, they did just that. After a hundred or so years of training together, learning shikai together, and getting stronger together, Ochiba was third seat and Kai was the vice captain. The day of his promotion, Kai took Ochiba to some hidden training area and asked him to help Kai learn Bankai. Ochiba gladly agreed, wanting nothing but power for himself and Kai. In the process of the next eleven years, Ochiba would achieve Bankai first. Kai didn't seem to mind, he just found it as a way to help him get Bankai even faster. So they did, and after eleven years they mastered it.

The day they returned Kai challenged their captain for his position. The battle was bloody but fast, Kai opened it with his Bankai. He defeated the captain, who didn't want to activate his Bankai so near to other shinigami. Kai would walk out of that arena a captain. Ochiba would walk out a vice captain. They seemed to run smoothly and happily for decades, before Ochiba began to notice something. All of the higher officers in the sixth division practically worshiped Kai. Also, anyone who spoke out about this revelation to him disappeared the next day. Through further investigation, Ochiba found that Kai was sending them to the 12th division to be subjects of unknown experiments. Disgusted, Ochiba confronted Kai. When Kai wouldn't change his ways, Ochiba challenged Kai. Kai was weak, he needed something big like Bankai to even hope to defeat someone like Ochiba or their previous captain. So, Kai would open with his Bankai once again. It seemed he hadn't fully mastered it, since Ochiba was able to take him out solely with his Shikai form. Ochiba walked out of that arena a Captain. As soon as he got back he would clear out the ranks and re-select every single one of his high-ranked officers.

Kugo sighed as a man charged at him at full speed. The man was named Haruko, and was a high-level shinigami of the Ragnarock’s 11th division. He raised his blade to Kugo’s rib cage, slashing out at a speed that would amaze and stun most. Kugo simply jumped backward, moving with agility that most wouldn’t expect from someone who focused everything he had into Kidou. However, Kugo had also spent many years training in Shunpo and hand-to-hand combat; he was just not very good with a sword. Haruko continued to slash as Kugo dodged, never coming closer than a half an inch from Kugo. Haruko’s final attack was a clever one. He released his shikai to distract Kugo, casting up a screen of dust because of the force of his reiatsu. As Kugo covered his face, he noticed a movement in the screen. Suddenly, a crescent blade shot forward and toward Kugo’s rib cage. It caught his Haori, and cut it but didn’t reach his skin; Kugo had shunpo’d away too quickly. When the screen cleared Kugo saw Haruko’s shikai for the first time.
The shikai was very similar to a farmer’s scythe, and it looked like it was only good for cutting crops. Kugo contemplated this as Haruko charged once again, the blade coming down on Kugo in a blur of brown and black. Cursing under his breath, he drew Seisen and brought it up to meet the blade. Suddenly, Seisen morphed. In a flash of brilliant purple light it turned into an elegant staff. The staff was made of pure black steel, with a head that looked to be made of amethyst. It was beautifully carved, and gilt in silver. Pushing on the heavy scythe, he sent Haruko back a few meters as he took up a defensive stance. He raised the staff to chest level, keeping it parallel to the ground and firmly grasped in his right hand. He raised his left hand and began to condense reiatsu around it. "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! On the wall of blue flame, inscribe a twin lotus. In the abyss of conflagration, wait at the far heavens." He commanded, as the reiatsu formed into two blue-white orbs. Hado number seventy-three, Sōren Sōkatsui. Twin Lotus Blue Fire, Crash Down!” They shot forward, arching around as they came in to crash on either side of Haruko. As they met they exploded, covering the area in blue-white flames and smoke. When the smoke finally cleared, Haruko was nowhere to be seen. He reappeared to Kugo’s left, only landing for a second before shunpo’ing to his right.
Haruko disappeared once again, reappearing exactly where Kugo had expected: Right above him. The scythe blade came down as Haruko fell straight toward Kugo. Raising his left hand to the sky he didn’t even bother with an incantation. White lightning formed around his finger tips and fired into the air, singing the man’s shoulder and cutting into the bone. ”Hado number four, Byakurai. White Lightning!” He howled in pain, spiraling in the air to land on his feet once again. Dropping the scythe, he cursed under his breath and admitted defeat. There was no way he could continue with the spar without his good arm, no way could he carry his shikai with one hand, and no way could he win without shikai. Kugo bowed to him, sealing his shikai into the form of a blade once again. Placing the blade back in its sheath, he walked over to examine the wound. With little effort he healed it back up, leaving a massive scar as a reminder of the battle. ”Next time, think before you act. You 11th divisions really need to keep a straight head in battle. It isn’t always about going full force.” He said, feeling like he was preaching. As if Haruko knew exactly what Kugo was thinking, he responded in an aggravated tone.

”Alright, alright. Keep your lectures to yourself, old man. I could have beaten you if I wasn’t afraid of killing you.” He said confidently, grabbing his blade with white-knuckle force. He placed the blade back in his black obi sash and stood back up. Cursing under his breath, he turned to leave.
”You’re leaving so soon? So you really don’t want my training?” Kugo asked with mock disappointment. The truth was training 11th division shinigami was a pain for anyone outside of the 11th division. They were so hot headed at times. He smiled at Haruko as he turned slowly, a look of confusion on his face. ”The deal was that if I won you’d train me.” He said to Kugo, obviously not happy about the fact that he had lost. He was even more pissed when he saw Kugo smiling. Turning around, he snapped back his fist in preparation to punch Kugo in the jaw. Suddenly, Kugo was two inches away from him. His slim, bony fingers wrapped around both Haruko’s wrist and his neck. The strength that Kugo possessed was easy to measure when he was that close, and Haruko felt the air draining from his body.
As Haruko gasped for air, Kugo began to talk. ”Listen, Haruko. You don’t like the way I do things you can leave. But never raise a fist to me unless we are training, you got that? Now, it is my obligation to train anyone who wants my training. You were the idiot that made the bet, and I’m a betting man. So, do you want the training or not?” He asked in a slightly malicious tone. Suddenly realizing that Haruko couldn’t speak without oxygen, he loosened his grip on Haruko’s throat and let him drop limply to the ground. Haruko gasped for air, taking in as much as he could for several seconds before wheezing a response. ”Of course I want the damned training. I need my bankai, and I need it fast.”
”Good, we begin next week at dawn. Until then, learn how to think.” Kugo replied, before turning around and walking away from the training arena. When he reached the trees he shunpo’d away, leaving Haruko to think and breathe.
